Choose the right field

Where this text works

Discord has three different name fields. They do not accept the same characters.

  1. Display name

    Your account-wide name. Discord documents a 32-character maximum; Unicode counting can vary, so confirm the final result in Discord.

    A name used in one server. Server roles and permissions may prevent you from changing it.

  3. Unique @username

    Discord only accepts lowercase Latin letters, numbers, underscores and periods here, so fancy Unicode characters are rejected.

From preview to Discord

  1. Keep the name short

    Enter one line and compare the readable styles first. The length row shows both your input code points and the selected result’s UTF-16 units.

  2. Copy the exact result

    Choose a style, then use its Copy button. The tool copies every character shown, including unchanged letters and spaces.

  3. Check before saving

    Open your profile or server profile settings, paste the result into the appropriate name field, and inspect it on your device. Labels can vary by Discord client and version.

Name font questions

Why can’t I use this for my @username?

Unique usernames use a restricted character set so people can add and find accounts consistently. Use the converted text in your display name or a server nickname instead.

Is this the same as Nitro Display Name Styles?

No. This tool produces copyable Unicode text and does not require Nitro. Discord’s native Display Name Styles are a separate Nitro feature with Discord-controlled fonts, colors and effects.

Why show two length counts?

A styled letter can occupy two UTF-16 units. In our Discord Web test, 16 mathematical bold letters (32 units) saved, while 17 (34 units) failed length validation. Other clients are still untested; check your result in Discord.

Which style should I choose?

Start with Sans-serif Bold, Serif Bold or Sans-serif. Decorative scripts and Fraktur can be harder to scan, may render differently by device, and can be less accessible to screen readers.
